Learn about the impact Southwest Michigan’s historically Black sororities had on women’s rights. Willard librarians Tynisha Dungey and Jade Woodridge will moderate the virtual discussion with leaders of local sororities. Conversation topics will include the history of the organizations, sorority presence in universities and the community, what it means to be a sister, and words of encouragement for younger women wishing to be a part of the sororities.
The panelists will be:
- Cheryl Emanuel, a certified fluid power hydraulic
specialist at Parker Hannifin. She is a member and chapter president of
the Psi Kappa Omega Chapter or Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
- Keyuana Rosemond is the chief innovation officer at
Health Net of West Michigan and president of the Eta Pi Sigma Chapter
of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
- Marissa Harrington is an associate broker and team
leader of The Harrington Team at Five Star Real Estate. She is a member
of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and Inc.-Rho Theta Zeta Chapter.
- Lynn Ward Gray is the development officer for the
Battle Creek Community Foundation and a former Battle Creek city
commissioner. She is chapter president of the Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority.
